Metallica (aka Tally) is a one year old female Schnauzer mix who weighs 10 pounds. She is an active bundle of playfulness and energy! She likes to be busy all day if she can. Tally loves to go outside but only with her human. She has a fear of missing out if her human goes in the house without her. She needs someone who can take her out after she wakes up each morning, about every two hours during the day, and once before bedtime. She is currently working on potty training but needs that consistency and positive reinforcement each time she potties outside. We do “potty parties” where you clap your hands and say “Good potty, Tally! Good potty!” She will quickly associate your positive response to her action of pottying and will know what you want her to do when you tell her to go outside and potty in a week or so. Some dogs catch on in a few days, while others may take a little longer, but it will work. No treats are needed, just applause and praise. As she grows more secure in your love and positive reinforcement, she will be able to go outside without you being present.
Tally loves people and other dogs. She would love to have another playful dog with which to play chase, wrestle, and play tug of war. Or, if you prefer only one dog, she will need you to help provide her plenty of play time and exercise.
Tally is the perfect age for obedience training. This will result in a well mannered dog for you and a strong bond between the both of you. Basic obedience training will also cover walking on a leash, which can provide another source of exercise for you both.
Snuggling up to her human in the evening and at bedtime is Tally’s favorite part of the day. She loves sleeping with her foster mom and snuggles in for the night. When her foster mom was home during a sick day, Tally kept her company in bed all day and kept a close eye on her.
If you’re looking for a loving, sweet and playful girl. Tally might be a perfect fit!
