Desert
Desert is a male, red miniature dachshund who weighs 9 lbs. and is 2 years old. He is a sweet boy and loves a lap but is also active and playful. He enjoys going for walks and it doesn’t take a whole lot to tire him out. Afterwards, he’ll be ready to cuddle and snuggle up with you.
Desert is a typical dachshund in that he LOVES food! He’s a skinny little boy right now, but has a voracious appetite. He will stop at nothing to get to food so it’s possible he was food deprived as a stray. He is possessive of his food so it’s best to feed him by himself with no other dogs or children near.
Desert is currently working on housetraining and would benefit from someone who is home all day until he is fully trained. Obedience training and potty parties (enthusiastically clapping and praising him when he potties outside) will help him to be eager to please you by complying with your wishes. We have a belly band he can wear inside to catch any accidents early on. Potty training can be quickly achieved with the right approach and timing and we can help you with that!
Desert is a sweetheart and would make a great companion and lap dog!
