While our adoption fees vary due to things like vet care, boarding costs, and grooming costs, here is a look at our general pricing.
- Puppies: $600-$800
- Young Adult: $500-$700
- Older Adult: $400-$600
- Seniors: $250 - $400
Please keep in mind:
For every dog we take in, we must spay/neuter them, administer vaccines, perform a heartworm test, conduct a fecal test, provide heartworm prevention, supply food, and sometimes medications/procedures/testing.
All that care is around the amount of the adoption donation we ask. Any additional funds go towards our medical cases. Sometimes, our medical cases can be in the thousands. Currently, we have two Westies requiring $5,300 in surgery (not including all the testing and lab work we’ve done!), a Shih Tzu that we performed double eye removal on, and the list goes on. We also have approximately 30 “forever fosters” that we continually vet.
A pet is a 10-to 15-year commitment and a valued family member. That amount for a 10-15 year investment is a reasonable deal. Monthly vet care is also quite pricey, so when considering adopting, please consider all the monthly fees that come with owning a pet.
If we charged less than we do, we would not be able to survive as a rescue. We could not take dogs in the medical case or the large amounts we take.
Our vet bills increase as prices increase on everyday household items and groceries. We do not have a veterinarian on staff, so we are paying regular fees to vet offices for the care. A normal dog in the rescue is hundreds of dollars for basic vetting. Shelters have lower costs, but that is also because they have vets on staff and other resources available to them that not all rescues have.
When considering our adoption donation amounts, we encourage you to take into account the broader picture of our rescue and the many dogs we can help. Each dollar of the adoption donation is used to ensure that we can continue saving these dogs and providing them with the care they need.
